The Diploma of Leadership and Management reflects the role of individuals who apply knowledge, practical skills and experience in leadership and management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts.

Graduates at this level display initiative and judgement in planning, organising, implementing and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others. They use communication skills to support individuals and teams to meet organisational or enterprise requirements.

They may plan, design, apply and evaluate solutions to unpredictable problems, and identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources.

Duration

The course duration: 1 year: 4 terms; 9 weeks per term

Course Delivery

​The course is 4 terms for 36 weeks, timetabled for 20 hours per week. The timetable is organised to suit students already working during the day. You attend the course in the evenings, some online study and work placement.

Classroom learning - There is 8 hours face-to-face learning in the classroom per week supported with PowerPoints. Classroom learning includes lectures supported by presentations plus visual topic content, with practice time and group and oral work. Your materials are provided either in print or digital copy that can be accessed as part of the course. There is an extra cost for the textbook, please refer to the fees table.

Online learning - There is 4 hours study online per week. Online learning follows the units you are studying in class and includes reading topics, research and extra materials.

Assessment 

Students are required to complete a range of tasks as part of the assessment requirements for each unit. To perform at your best, you will probably need to work on the assessments outside of class time. Assessments methods may include:

  • Practical demonstrations where you will be observed by one of our assessors in a simulated environment and in your work placement

  • Knowledge based tests which contain written short answer questions

  • Projects for you to investigate and complete in your own time.

  • Logbook from work placement signed by your supervisor contributes to assessment 

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer

AMBI recognises certificates and statement of attainment issued by other registered training organisation and the skills and knowledge that students may have gained through any previous studies and at workplace and life experiences. RPL and credit transfer can be applied for at the time of enrolment or during orientation. A fee is payable for assessing your RPL status.  

 

Course Completion

Upon successful completion of all the required units of this course, you will receive a nationally recognised qualification in BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management. Students who do not complete all required units may be eligible for a Statement of Attainment in partial completion of a BSB50420 Diploma of Leadership and Management.
