Hiring a trainee or supporting your existing staff through a traineeship unlocks significant government incentives that offset training and wage costs.
Fee-Free Traineeships (NSW)
- New Entrant Traineeships are fee-free until 30 June 2026 under NSW Smart and Skilled
- Your employee pays nothing for their nationally recognised qualification
- Applies to all AMBI traineeship qualifications
Priority Hiring Incentive (Federal)
- $2,500 for full-time trainees in priority occupations
- $1,250 for part-time trainees
- Paid directly to the employer via the Australian Apprenticeships Incentive System
Payroll Tax Rebate (NSW)
- Claim a payroll tax rebate on wages paid to registered apprentices and new entrant trainees
- Applies for the full duration of the training contract
- Available through Revenue NSW
Workers Comp Premium Reduction
- icare Apprentice Incentive Scheme reduces your workers compensation premium
- Discount calculated on wages paid to apprentices/trainees
- Example: ~$450 annual saving per apprentice in Hairdressing & Beauty Salons

RPL for Salon Owners & Experienced Staff
If you or your staff have been working in the beauty or nail industry, you likely already have the skills needed for a formal qualification. Through RPL, we assess your existing knowledge and practical skills against national standards. You only complete the gaps — saving you time and money.
How it works: We review your work history, portfolio and practical skills → map them against qualification units → you complete only what is needed → receive your nationally recognised qualification.
Typical RPL timeline: 4–8 weeks depending on evidence and gaps identified.
