UNIQUE STUDENT IDENTIFIER

The Unique Student Identifier (USI) is a reference number made up of ten numbers and letters that give students access to their USI account. It allows students to access their training records and transcripts, and is a requirement for all students undertaking nationally recognized training in Australia.

To obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI), follow these steps:

  1. Access the USI Website: Visit the USI website at https://www.usi.gov.au/students/create-your-usi to create your USI.

  2. Personal Information: Have the following personal information ready:

    • A form of identification such as a driver’s license, Medicare card, or Australian passport.
    • Your personal details, including your name, date of birth, and contact details.
  3. Create USI: Click on the “Create a USI” button on the USI website and follow the prompts. You will be required to agree to the terms and conditions and provide consent for the use and disclosure of your personal information.

  4. Verify Your Identity: You will need to provide one form of valid ID from the options provided during the registration process. This will be used to verify your identity.

  5. Record Your USI: Once you have completed the registration process, make sure to record and safely store your USI. You will need this number for any future training courses or qualifications you undertake.

  6. Use Your USI: Provide your USI to your training organization when you enroll in any nationally recognized training. This allows them to submit your training results to the national database.

Remember that having a USI is mandatory for all students undertaking vocational education and training in Australia. It helps to keep an online record of all the training you have completed since 2015. If you encounter any issues during the registration process, you can contact the USI Office for assistance.
